NDSU rifle teams earn bronze awards

The NDSU Marksmanship Club Rifle teams competed in the 2024 Intercollegiate Rifle Club Championship Matches, 3月23 - 24日, held at the X Count range in Fort Wayne, 印第安纳州, and sanctioned by the American Smallbore Shooting Association. 

Competition included both air rifle and smallbore rifle (.22口径).The smallbore team consisting of Sara Bauman, a senior in interior design form Valdez, Alaska; Garrett Langerud, a senior in biological and microbiological sciences from Bismarck, 北达科他; Clay Sell, A freshman in natural resources management from Winner ,South Dakota; Jacob Vaagen, a junior in civil engineering from Devil’s Lake, 北达科他; and Michele Weigel, a freshman in animal science/pre-vet from Bismarck, 北达科他 took third place with a score of 2,2人中有156人,400 points and the bronze medal. 

The Air Rifle team consisting of the same five individuals also took third place with a score of 2,2分之263,400 points and the bronze medal in Air Rifle Competition. The combined overall aggregate score of 4,419 / 4,800 points also gave third place and a third bronze medal to the NDSU shooters. 

Joe Eisenberg, a senior majoring in industrial engineering and management from Champlin, Minnestota, also competed as an individual. Shooters and teams are selected through regional qualifying regional sectional matches held in early February.

Other honors received by the individual shooters included Vaagen being named to the Second Team Allstars for Smallbore Rifle, Air Rifle and Overall Aggregate while Bauman receiving Second Team Allstars honors in Air Rifle and Overall Aggregate. The teams are coached by Mitchell Godbout of Casselton, 北达科他 and Dakotah Faught and Amanda Hintz of Fargo.

 The NDSU Marksmanship Club Pistol teams also competed in the 2024 National Collegiate Pistol Championships at Ft. Moore, Georgia. 艾米丽Yoder), a sophomore art major from Wolford, 北达科他 placed fifth in the Air Pistol Super Finals and received an honorable mention as an Air Pistol All American. The pistol teams are coached by Eric Pueppke of Amenia, 北达科他; James Ladwig of Argusville, 北达科他 and Jared Zollner of Wahpeton, 北达科他.
